The Transformation
Now that we have the ideal triangle set up and ready to be rotated around its pinnacle, select
the triangle and go to
Object -> Transform.
A Transform window pops up - using this window you can move, scale, rotate and skew objects.
You can transform the same object several times by pressing "Apply" repeatedly. Select the
Rotate subwindow and enter a rotation degree. The degree will vary with the width
of your triangle (it takes less wide triangles to make a sun than narrow ones) - 15 degree rotations
were used for this example.
While the triangle is selected, copy it by pressing
Ctrl-V. Paste the copy of the triangle
in the
same place by pressing
Ctrl-Alt-V. Your new triangle will be selected,
press "Apply" once. The copy of the triangle will rotate 15 degrees.
The next step is to press
Ctrl-Alt-V again, and "Apply"
twice. The
next time you should press
Ctrl-Alt-V once and "Apply" three times. Continue
pressing and applying the transformations. Your results should look like this:
You should continue making the transformations and clicking. Its tedious, but beggars can't be
choosers. Once you create half a sun you can speed up the transformations by transforming by
negative 15 degrees - the pasted triangles will be rotated in the other direction.
